I keep a chalkboard on my pantry door, not for jotting down lists of things i need or appointment reminders, just a place where I can practice my lettering. This one is a southernism that works for me and my husband because he LOVES some homemade biscuits.
Irwins in Burkina
My college roommate and best friend are moving to Burkina Faso, Africa to be missionaries. There is so much work and preperation into moving across the world. One large portion of this work is fundraising. I was so excited to lend a hand in providing lettering and illustrations for their promotional tools. take a look at their website.
Illustration Friday- Smart
This week for Illustration Friday I'm posting the drawing I did first and the final art. Is it a bird brain or a brainy bird? Either way, someone loves this little bird enough to put him in a frame!
Illustration Friday- Orbit
This week's theme for Illustration Friday is Orbit.
You are Invited!
One of my favorite clients is a lady from my church. She always sends the most fun projects my way. She recently gave a birthday party for her mother and needed an invitation to match the cotton theme. I created the illustrations and scanned in the Kraft paper texture so she was able to print it at her local print shop. What a unique and elegant party theme!
Adult Coloring Books
They are all the rage now, am I right? All my friends have several and are discovering the joys of expensive colored pencils and markers. I've been drawing some pages of an inspirational nature. I hope to share some more in the future.
Illustration Friday

Another dear friend had a baby. I did the decorations for the shower. I made this sign and gifted it to the parents at the end of the shower.
You can now purchase a print or product of this design on my society6 page. I have included a pink, blue and grey version. Not only are there prints, but other items as well such as note cards, blankets and tote bags in each of the three colors.
Happy Birthday!
I made this card for a friend and then we chowed down on some Vietnamese food. I think she liked it… :)
That's a Wrap!
I love wrapping presents almost more than anything! I didn't get any photos of my finished products but, I did capture an image of these tags I created. I bought the shapes at Michaels and added some sharpie magic to them. Now just imagine them on buffalo plaid wrapping paper with black or red bows and these little guilded gems glued on. Bonus points with the inlaws! :)
Oh Baby!
A dear friend of mine had a baby! She lives in Texas, so I wrapped up a few presents in some custom hand lettered wrapping paper. I used kraft paper and added oversized lettering to the center of the paper to ensure the focal point would be in place. It was a fun DIY, and gave a level of personalization to let her know that I wished I could be there on her special day.
Going to the Chapel
I had the honor of creating some chalkboard art for a country barn wedding this summer. I love the idea of cobbler instead of cake. Actually, I love the idea of cobbler anytime!
